Over the years, we’ve lost more shade trees than we care to count from drought, hard winters, and a few lightning strikes.
Our cattle still need a place to get out of the sun and weather, so we went to work building these sheds on skids. The good thing about them is we can move them wherever they’re needed and keep adapting as conditions change.
It may not be as pretty as a big old oak tree, but it’ll give these cows some much-needed shade and shelter.
That’s ranching, working with what you’ve got, solving problems as they come, and doing your best to take care of the land and the livestock.

The commercial side of our program.
While our registered cattle get a lot of attention, we’re just as excited about the calves we’re producing in our commercial operation. One thing we’ve believed from the beginning is that the right genetics can make a difference, regardless of whether you’re raising registered cattle or a set of commercial calves.
An AI program allows you to be intentional. It gives you the opportunity to use proven genetics, improve consistency, and stack traits that matter when it comes time to sell calves or build replacements. These calves are a great example of that, kind of cattle that are built to work.
You don’t have to be a seedstock operation to benefit from investing in better genetics. Sometimes a little more planning on the front end can make a big difference on the bottom line.
